SUBJECT - VERB AGREEMENT

Exercise 1: Underline the correct verb to use in the following sentences:

1. The news about the earthquakes ( was, were ) frightening.
2. All of the soup ( was, were ) eaten.
3. Fifty cents ( is, are ) more than enough.
4. At the top of the stairs ( is, are ) the two lights.
5. Each morning Tom or the children ( buys, buy ) fresh rolls at the bakery.

VERB TENSES

Exercise 2: Underline the verbs in the following sentences and identify their tenses

1. She is writing an article for the daily paper.
2. I had just mailed my brother a letter when he gives me a call.

PART A

All of the following sentences should be completed using the Simple Present. You must use the words in the parentheses to fill in the blanks. Hint: pay attention to word order. If you are confused, go to the Simple Present Page.

EXAMPLE:
